I want to know how can I subscribe me in the Oracle Trader.
Thank you
Gabriela.
I do not understand some of the terms used. Where can I find a more detailed description of “deviation”, and other terms used to indicate which trades look good and which don’t as relates to “Straddle Trader”?
Cliff, you could contact support and they can tell you. Not sure that there is a document describing terminology but support would know that also. I post on the blog the details of every trade so you should be able to determine which are the best by reading that. Fyi the deviation means this: each trade has a forecast target made by economists, like a companies quarterly profit targets for example. The actual number is broadcast at the time we do the trades. The deviation is the difference between the forecast and the actual amount. The larger the deviation, the further off were the economists and the larger the spike is.
I can’t find the video for NetTime, so it won’t install properly, despite me trying to run it as an Run As Admin. I have also tried to closely watch the video for your StraddleTraderPro, yet it just won’t sync with my Mt4.
What time frame can you start SP before the news release time?
Carl, I usually put it on a 1 minute chart and run it 10 or 15 minutes before the trade. That gives me time to do other stuff. You can run it closer to the trade time if you want but get it in at least 5 minutes before just so you are not rushing anything. Rushing is bad when you trade the news. Too many opportunities to make mistakes.
I have downloaded Elemental Trader software for testing however i did not find anywhere the guide to use the software.
Is there anything available??
TQ
If I enter values for “buy triggers” & “sell triggers” what is the difference between checking and not checking the box on the right of that row?
Twice recently the buy and the sell orders were removed without either one trading even though the price passed the buy price. It happened at the AUD Employment change news event and at the GBP Manufacturing Production news event.
What might I be doing wrong or is that the function of the STPro and happens when I check the box? If so, why would STPro do that?
I read that you have an optional EA that will manage the straddle pro trades for you. You say this is available “on the website” I can’t fnd where to get this EA.
Anthony, I am going to get a copy put in a more easily accessible area for everyone. If you haven’t gotten correspondence on this by Tuesday, repost the question.
Hi Barry,
it is largely a deviation form the 'EXPECTED' trade level. Which I take to mean the price that it will be trading at at the time of the news release ?
Though in these sorts of endeavors one really 'males' their own luck.
Sat in on a couple of your recent Webinars for your first public release of STP.
I’m really trying to find your active blog, as opposed to your daily and weekly STP trading forecast postings here, that I can utilize.and make posts to. Please send me the URL for it.
, ,
I’m still scrambling to get some valid STP trades in before the demo expires this Tuesday July 12, 2011 (Lame BTW. Though I do appreciate that this is part of Dustin’s marketing strategy for the first ‘limited?’eeeee public release) and still trying to get a clear enough picture and understanding of the STP trigger in order to utilize it EFFECTIVELY. From what I understood from your responses to my queries in the last STP webinar (thanks very much (<
Am I at least in the ball park now? (<
If so, who, how and what determines the forecasted 'expected' trade levels (price?) and where can I find regular, consistent access to this information?
Congrats on STP BTW. Nice to find something that appears to be solid, sound, robust, reliable that has the potential to be profitable over the LONG HAUL in the ForEx. As I keep hearing, there are EAs that come out that are profitable, though I've yet to find any such mythical beast that does it effectively and reliably enough to be categorized as such; that they all for some UNKNOWN reason (which is hard to fathom with the resources available to us these days) just inexplicably 'stop working' for no known apparent reasons.
Conspiracy? Seems highly unlikely.
Market changes? This is quite probable but it seems VERY unlikely to me that out of the thousands of EAs, that even if only 0.1% them were ever profitable (which in my guestimation is probably about the correct proportion of winners vs losers) that the market conditions are NEVER going to be similar enough that though won't return to profitability.
Once again: thanks for 'sharing' and the best of luck to all of you. (<
Regards,
DougRH
Barry, thanks for the software. Just want to ask what’s the different between Buy Trigger/Sell Trigger and Buy Pip/Sell Pip.
Second question, what’s the word “Revised” in the STP programme? How is it functioning to the entire programme?
Thanks for reply Barry.
Doug, lets see here…. I have no more active blog than this one. In fact this one has become over active lately, like a thyroid …. if it were any more active, eating would become an issue.
Regarding the deviations, the expected level is the aggregation of the estimates of a bunch of economists. Has nothing to do with price. Then when the actual comes out, the deviation between the estimate and the actual is what causes spikes. You need to have an expensive data feed service to the the details from each economist as far as I know, but there are a lot of sites that talk in general about the releases. Just Google it…..
I presume you meant “makes” their own luck …. I agree. In fact I don’t think luck is even involved in this. I use it every week to trade. It’s a great tool. I hope everyone gets comfortable with it and has as much success as I have. There is no reason that can’t happen.
forex2929, the Buy and Sell Triggers relate to the difference between the estimated and actual value of a piece of news. They impact the size of the spike. The buyPips/sellPips tells the EA how far above and below the current price to enter the sell and buy stop orders before the news comes out. The Revision relates to the data released the last time this news came out (usually last month). It means Oops, last month we told you the actual was x but really it was y. This can be used as an indicator to exit a trade if it comes out in the opposite direction from the trade you are in, or maybe a reason to hold it a bit longer, or you can totally ignore it (except on NFP) like I usually do.
I bought the Straddle Trader Pro, but have yet to see it take a trade. Is there somewhere I can see trades taken by the system to compare so I can see whether mine is working? I don’t understand why mine did not take a sell today when the deviation was good. thanks.
Chenoa, I have passed your request for help along. This should get resolved today.
Hello Barry,
Today end the trial and I have not been able to properly test STP. I have signed to the last webinar on July 16 and I ask you a very big favor to extend the period till next Friday in order to test the system. If I can get a positive result in a real mini account I will buy the system for shure but I need to be shure my broker is ok to use STP. Please I need a good broker and you have a lot of experience with brokers that works ok and do not work at all with STP. I think the broker is a very important aspect to be profitable with STP and to avoid Sleepage, delays…etc. Please help me with that.
Thanks a lot for your time
Carlos
Carlos, there are now a bunch of broker recommendations in here. Have a look and help yourself. I think Steven from Scotland offers some sound advice as have many others. If this turns into a forum of idea sharing, that will be a really good thing and everyone will benefit.
Hello Barry,
How to get Steven from Scotland posts? I´m trying but do not find it.
Thanks
Carlos, I think you just scroll through all the stuff and they are in there somewhere.
Hey Barry,
I notice in the Straddle Trader software there are trades that we could take, but it says to use our own Triggers. How can I know what to use for triggers?
Thanks!
Bob, the answer is in the FAQ page located at:
http://www.straddletraderpro.net/stp-faq.html
Hi,
I am still vague about setting my own triggers where they are not provided.
On the FAQ page it says go to the forexfactory page and find a value and multiply it by 3/4?
So whatever the forecast is for the news item, you just do that quick calculation and put that in?
Is that right?
jim h, thats not what I do but for purposes of doing trades that I don’t post for, it should be adequate. Maybe over time we will change the 3/4 to 1/2 or 1 as we gain experience. Or you might condlude that on your own.
Hello Barry,
Any aditional comments about todays NZDUSD trade at 8:45?
Best
Carlos
Is it OK to set -y- on OCO?
What allin means? it has to be on -y- or -n- and why?
Thanks
Carlos
Carlos, yes … be careful and trade conservatively.
Carlos, you can set OCO to y if you want. Don’t use allIn until you are making money with great fills on every trade with your broker. I don’t want to get into explanations of this stuff on the blog or I will never finish answering the questions.
Thanks Barry.
Good luck
Best
Carlos
Hi Barry, I promise this is my last question.
This is my lst oportunity to test STP before buy it and I´ll try this NZDUSD news in less than 1 hr in real account with a very low lot…jus for testing purposes. My broker shows a fixed spread of 6pips for this pair. How do you think about this spread to take this trade?
Thanks and I promised this is my last question in this blog
Best
Carlos
Carlos, well it would have been a good idea but since the data came out early, you would have not gotten in anyway.
Hai Barry, I’m using IamFx to run STP, last Friday for the NFP, the program placed a buy stop order at 116.276 for EURJPY. The price never hit my buy stop order, BUT, it runs already and hit stop loss at 115.752. How come I have a loss on this trade. But, I have profit for the sell order.
I wrote mail to IamFx, they were giving explanation as they are STP Straight Through Processing, they followed Market Execution. And they are not suggesting to trade on news release time…
Does this mean Straight Through Processing (IamFx) not suitable for news trade??? Coz until today they are not giving me satisfied answer.
Please suggest what kind of broker suitable for your super program? STP or ECN or others??? Thanks.
forex2929, I am confused. If it never hit your buy stop, how did the order get live? I think others trade there that have not been having problems. I’ve found that ECN and STP brokers tend to have more slippage. If you can find one that gives you decent fills, you are golden. You might try increasing the buyPips/sellPips by a few and setting preNewsSec to maybe 5 to see if that doesn’t improve your fills. I would experiment with this before moving on. Otherwise a dealing desk broker with preferrably 4 digits if you can find one any more historically did the best, though most of the webinar videos were with 5 digit brokers.
Barry, so my test orders went in and out but no real orders on the News that just happened on the EURJPY … was that correct?
Jim H, the real orders should have gone in. It is likely the broker blocked them but without any detail from the Experts tab or Journal it is hard to tell.

I am using GFT broker
Jim, it looks like this stuff was going on at 08:29. A pending order delete failed but worked on the next try.
Barry,
I have only been able to get the software to place test orders and then remove them but never has it placed real pending orders at market time and caught a move… my broker is GFT do you think they are blocking? or do you think I have a slow time sync or do you think I have settings wrong?
Jim H, without seeing the Experts tab, I have no way of knowing. Get me a copy of that and I can tell you what is going on.
ok… here is the expert tab (below) which relates to the journal (above)

Is anyone making any real money with this? I bought it recently, but I havne’t used it yet. Looks like there aren’t too many news plays yet.
why don’t I see all the scheduled news on the Straddle Trader Pro, such as GBP 4:30 a.m. ? So how do I set up STP for this trade?
Kurt, this is all explained in the blog post…
Barry, I did everything we talked about but I have 1 more question.. is v1.0.0 supposed to be used with 2.31? and I selected TEST so that would mean I will have 1 test order placed which will be removed before the real pending orders are placed… right? 423 421-7100
2 Qs please:
(1). I’m using STP v2.28 Is this what I should be using or am I out of date. I see you referring to settings for v2.31.
(2). I have just traded UK Retail Sales. I used your recommended settings and made a small profit but had to be very quick! (seems it only ‘spiked’ 10 pips). I note that the EA opened the (Long) trade at 05:32 EST instead of 05:30. How and why was this? Thanks
James
James N, v2.28 is fine. If you keep getting error 130, you might want to try the new version. If not, there is no real need. It is not clear from what you have provided why it entered the trades 2 minutes late. It also is odd that there was a spike at that time. My video shows a 22 pip spike exactly at 04:30:00 EST with some retracement after that. Check your system clock for accuracy. Send me a screen shot of the Experts tab if you have it.
Jim H, v1.0.0 doesnt care which EA it is talking to. There is no connection between them other than the data that is passed. If you turn on test orders (set testOrders to y), it will enter and remove testOrdersTries number of pairs.
Looks like the trailing stop is only working for 1 of the multiple orders which were entered using v2.31… is that what you are seeing too?
Jim H, hhmmm… I will take a look at this. Thanks.
Barry, I have tried 3 times to using STP but it never has fired off an order. I have contacted support to get help just now.
I have noticed that most of the trades you have posted on your blog indicate trades are too risky for STP but it is OK for OT. How many news trades are expected to be good to take for STP per month? At the rate you are suggesting, I don’t see how your support personnel, Dan, had made all the profits as he claimed using STP.
Kurt, there are a couple things to address here. If it has never fired off an order, there is something wrong. You need to send me a screen shot of the Experts tab so I can see what is wrong. I would say there are 10 to 15 trades per month I recommend on the Straddle. There are a couple that the OT cannot be used on. If we do 10 and 5 have a nice spike, we do very well. Frankly it only takes 1 to do really well. I have dozens of videos of trades I did starting from back in January that made thousands of dollars apiece. And Dan didn’t claim to make profits, he showed the account history from his MT4 station. The history cannot be changed. It is a read-only item.
And one last item, which is just a technicality just for the record. I am an independent contractor and don’t work for Forex Traders Daily or any other affiliated company. He is someone elses support personnel. But a good guy nonetheless
.
Barry,
When you say Dan didn’t claim to make profits, I’m little bit confused. On the webinar he claimed that he initially deposited $500.00 and because he was doing well he deposited more, with total deposit around $2,000.00. With this $2,000.00 he claimed to turn into $6,000.00 within a month using STP. Are you saying he didn’t use STP alone to make those returns? Also, by stating and showing his account with beginning balance of $2,000.00 and ending balance around $6,000.00 claiming he made profits using STP?
Kurt, what I meant is that he did make profits. You saw the profits. He then explained every single trade and what he used to make the profits or losses. I took the word “claimed” to mean that he said it but there was some question or doubt as to whether it was true or not. Maybe that was not how it was intended.
He made the profits you saw in the way he said and showed he made them. He identified the tool he used to make the profits in every case, even the small ones. That all seemed very clear.
Now, given that, please restate your question because I must not fully understand it. and I will take another whack at answering it.
Hi Battista,
I have purchased the STP and I had the Oracle Trader as Bonus.
I have two questions:
1. I have a $400 account. Is it ok to use the STP on this my small live account? I dont wanna lose it. Already I have runned the account down from $1,950 with my technical manual trading. I feel bad and worried.
2. Will proper application of the STP bring my lost capital back?
Thank you?
And when do i use the STP and when do I use the OT?
Thanks once more
I”ll need proper settings from you directly if possible.
How I wished this EA was a set and forget kinda thing!
Timothy M, I provide the settings in my blog posts. When you are news trading, the last thing you want is an EA trying to figure out what you would want done. THere are too many different things that can happen.
Timothy M, my blog posts tell you when to use OT and STP. I also give you the settings. I don’t know if it will bring your account back. There are many factors to doing that, expertise, broker, etc. Trade the smallest lot size MT4 will let you till you are comfortable with the fills. If that happens, you should be in good shape.
RE: Straddle Trader Pro.
I am in the UK and spread betting. Therefore there are several aspects/parameters that are specific to our way of trading here. So is there a forum for people like me where I can get some help please? TIA
mish for forum is not specific to spread betting but you would likely find some helpful info in there anyway. If you want me to add you, let me know your Skype name.
thanks, can I send skype address confidentially please?
Barry, great news to report. Support sorted out my software issue and made sure I started things up in the right order, and my broker didn’t widen the spreads! Traded the AUD Retail sales and the GBP Services PMI today (3rd August) and got a nice spike of 33 and 46 pips respectively. It was on the real account and 4 lots each time. Thanks for your help, it is appreciated.
